It is with great enthusiasm that we announce that the Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) along with district consortium members have been awarded $180,000 to support classified employees who wish to continue their education and become part of the teaching force. MCOE has partnered with local school districts, including Salinas City Elementary School District, to create a consortium for purposes of applying for and implementing the California Classified School Employees Teacher Credentialing Grant Program named ACEIT (Aspiring Classified Employees into Teaching). We (MCOE and district consortium members) have received notification from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) that we were allocated 45 slots. The consortium has developed a competitive process for interested candidates who wish to further their education.
The consortium will accept 23 students who have an earned BA, 18 students who have at least an AA and 4 students who have transferrable credits that equate to an AA. These students will be selected from the applications received from the participating district. This application process will be open from January 13, 2017 through January 23, 2017.
