KINDNESS WEEK | JANUARY 22 - 26
Salinas City Elementary School District will be having their Kindness Week during January 22 through January 26. Many schools throughout the District are planning activities and events to promote random acts of kindness and helping others around them. This is a positive proactive anti-bullying initiative that educators can use to empower and encourage students to create a culture of kindness.
One school in particular, Kammann Elementary, in honor of Kindness Week, will have their first grade students provide up to 200 sandwich lunches to Dorothy's Kitchen in hopes to feeding some people in need.
Around 8:30 am on Monday, January 22nd, Kammann will kick off Kindness Week by gathering sandwich lunches from our generous students, families and staff. Together, they will build sandwiches, pack them up, and teachers will drop off them off at Dorothy's Kitchen during their lunch break at 11:30 am.
"We want our community to know how much we care for them. We also want our students to understand how important it is to be kind and respectful to each other. " Leticia Garcia said, Principal of Kammann Elementary.
Schools across the District have wonderful things planned for Kindness Week. The acts of kindness include not only being kind to others, but being kind to yourself, animals, and the earth. Write a thank you note; make a new friend; smile or say “good morning” to five people; or learn to say “hello” in a new language. These are just a few of the many exciting ways we can promote a culture of acceptance and tolerance. The intent of this one dedicated week is that it will hopefully spread into the rest of the year, off school grounds, into neighborhoods, and onto local communities.
We encourage our community to do one kind thing every day, for the whole week. Together, we can make our city a little better place!
Have a fantastic Kindness Week!!
