Nondiscrimination in District Programs

Federal and state law prohibits discrimination in education programs and activities and employment.  The Governing Board is committed to equal opportunity for all individuals in education and employment. Salinas City Elementary School District prohibits unlawful discrimination, including discriminatory harassment, intimidation, and bullying on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, religion, political affiliation, gender, mental or physical disability, sex orientation, sex, marital or parental status, pregnancy, genetics or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local law, ordinance, or regulation in its educational program(s) or employment. No person shall be denied employment solely because of any impairment which is unrelated to the ability to engage in activities involved in the position(s) or program for which application has been made. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in the hiring process, Salinas City Elementary School District will provide you with one upon notice. Any complaint regarding discrimination in education programs and activities shall be filed in accordance with the district’s Uniform Complaint Procedures. BP 1312.3/AR 1312.3

This policy shall apply to all acts related to school activity or to school attendance occurring within a school under the jurisdiction of the superintendent of the school district. Requires that school personnel take immediate steps to intervene when it is safe to do so and when he or she witnesses an act of discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
