We are so excited that you selected Salinas City Elementary School District! We are here to help our new SCESD preschool students get enrolled.
This program is funded by the California Department of Education to provide free preschool for children who meet income eligibility and can benefit from a quality learning experience.
Our State Preschool Program offers Part Day and Full Day programs.

180-Day Part Day Programs available from either 8:00-11:00 am OR 12:00-3:00 pm at the following schools:

210-Day Full Day Programs available from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (Service Hours based on NEED) at the following schools:

Step 1: Complete Mandatory Forms

Step 2: Gather Copies of These Important Documents
Please gather copies or take photos of any and all of the following documents below:

Original Birth Certificate
for ALL children in the family 17 years and younger (to prove family size)

Updated Immunization Record
for the Child Enrolling for Preschool

Current Physical Exam
for the Child Enrolling for Preschool

Address Verification
- Utility Bill
- Major Credit Card Statement
- Bank Statement
- AutoInsurance Policy
- Cell phone or Internet Bill

Current Income
(Proof of family income from the last 2 months), for example:
- Check/pay stubs
- Self-Employment (Recent Profit/Loss, Most Recent Tax Returns)
- Unemployment
- Disability
- Worker’s Compensation
- CalWORKs/Cash Aid and/or CalFresh (food stamps) Notice of Action
- Child Support Income

Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
(A copy of the IEP must be submitted, if applicable)

Parent Volunteering
- Optional: Parent Volunteering in the classroom with Children Interaction Requires Immunizations:
- (SB 792 requires all parents, guardians and volunteers to be vaccinated for
- Pertussis
- Measles
- Influenza)
- A TB/PPD skin test/Quantiferon/Xrays result
- and/or medical clearance is also required (valid 4 years) as well as
- completing a child abuse mandated reporter and completing and signing the Salinas City Elementary School District waiver.

SCESD California State Preschool Program reserves the right to ask for additional information to verify eligibility.
ONLY COMPLETED PACKETS ALONG WITH THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Step 3: Email or Turn in Documents
If you would like to drop off the application and documents in person, please schedule an appointment by calling the office at: (831)784-5402
Email the Mandatory Forms, Important Documents, and Follow-Up Documents to the State Preschool Office at cspp@salinascity.k12.ca.us . You will be notified once the documents are received, as well as, next steps once all documents have been reviewed.
