In an effort to improve access to Board of Trustees' materials, the SCESD uses BoardDocs to maintain the agendas and all supporting materials for all board meetings, as well as all other District meetings governed by the Ralph M. Brown Act, California's open meeting law. Board meetings are established in compliance with California Education Code and The Ralph M. Brown Act, California's open meeting law, which states, in part: "The people of this State do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies which serve them. The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may retain control over the instruments they have created." The intent of the Brown Act is that public commissions, boards, councils and other public agencies exist to aid in the conduct of the people's business, and that such bodies take action openly, and that deliberations are conducted openly, except in certain specific situations where closed session deliberations are allowed.
Agendas and notices will be posted publicly on the rear entry doors at the District Office, 840 S. Main St., as well as on the website, 72 hours prior to public meetings. Click here to be redirected to the SCESD's BoardDocs site. To access information, select the desired meeting from the list in the "meetings" section of the BoardDocs home page.Information about School Board Meetings
The Board of Trustees establishes its meeting schedule for the coming year annually in June. Meetings are normally held on the third Tuesday of each month, with closed session occurring at 5pm and the public portion of the meeting starting at 6:30pm; the schedule is subject to change if the third Thursday of a month occurs during an official school holiday or on a national holiday. In addition to welcoming the public to our boardroom at 840 S. Main St. in Salinas, our meetings stream live on the District's YouTube channel and can be found here.
