Public Comment Guidelines for Agendized and Non-Agendized
All public comment speaker cards must be placed in the box or given to the Board Recorder (Executive Assistant) before the start of opening business (6:30pm).
For non-agendized items, an individual or group representative may address the Board of Education at this time. Public comments on matters within the jurisdiction of the Board will be heard at the time the public comment on public items section is reached on the agenda and opened by the President. Public Comment on an agendized item will be heard at the time the item is opened by the President and before there is any report or presentation from the administration or presenter, board discussion, debate or action.
Persons who submit Public Comment Speaker cards after 6:30pm will not be allowed to provide public comment. Speakers are requested to state their name prior to speaking to the Board. Speakers will have not more than three minutes and the Board limits comments to each subject to no more than twenty minutes, unless otherwise extended or limited by the President. A speaker's allotted time cannot be deferred to another speaker. Board Members may question the speaker but there will be no debate or decision. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, no action or discussion shall be undertaken on any item not appearing on the posted agenda. If appropriate, the President, or any Trustee, may direct that a matter be referred to the Superintendent's Office for review.
Speakers are cautioned that under California law, no person is immune from liability for making intentionally false or defamatory comments regarding any person simply because these comments are made at a public meeting.

All public comment speaker cards for closed session must be placed in the box or given to the Board Recorder (Executive Assistant) before the start of the meeting (5pm).
For closed session items, an individual or group representative may address the Board of Education at this time. An individual or group representative may address the Board of Education on closed session agenda items by completing a speaker card (Public Comment Speaker Card). Speakers are requested to state their name prior to speaking to the Board. Speakers will have not more than three minutes and the Board limits comments to each subject to no more than twenty minutes, unless otherwise extended or limited by the President. A speaker’s allotted time cannot be deferred to another speaker. Board Members may question the speaker but there will be no debate or decision. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, no action or discussion shall be undertaken on any item not appearing on the posted agenda. All public comment forms must be placed in the box or given to the Board Recorder (Executive Assistant) before the start of Open Session. Speakers are requested to state their name prior to speaking to the Board. Speakers will have not more than three minutes and the Board limits comments to each subject to no more than twenty minutes, unless otherwise extended or limited by the President. A Speaker’s allotted time cannot be deferred to another speaker. Board Members may question the speaker but there will be no debate or decision. For Special Board Meetings, if you wish to address any item on the Open Session agenda please submit your Public Comment Form before the Board reconvenes in Open Session. Persons who submit Public Comment Forms after this time, will not be allowed to provide public comment.
