Family Resource Centers

alt-text

The Salinas City Elementary School District is proud to offer four Family Resource Centers located at Sherwood, Kammann, University Park, and Loma Vista Schools. Our team is dedicated to supporting families by providing valuable resources to ensure children are happy, healthy, and set up for success in school and beyond. Each center offers help with essential needs like food, backpacks, school supplies, hygiene kits, and school uniforms.

The Family Resource Centers are here for every family in our district, offering a range of services such as social-emotional classes, technology assistance, second-language learning, workshops for both parents and students, and guidance through the school system—and so much more. We especially work with homeless and foster families, helping to ensure they have the support they need. On average, over 3,600 students in our district are identified as homeless each year, making up more than 40% of our student body.

For students in need, we provide items like school uniforms or clothing, warm jackets, socks, backpacks, school supplies, hygiene items (such as toothbrushes, soap, and more), books, non-perishable food, blankets, umbrellas, bus passes, shower passes, laundry cards, and anything else that helps make their educational journey smoother.

We also support parents by assisting with important documents like vaccine records, birth certificates, and social security cards to help with school enrollment. Families can also access computers at our centers to search for and apply for jobs. Services and programs vary throughout the year depending on our partnerships with other agencies and organizations, allowing us to offer even more ways to help our families thrive.

Our Family Resource Centers are here for you—together, we can make sure every child is ready to shine!
